Coaches
Head Coach – Apply now
- Leads the Barracudas swim team by setting the tone for all Junior Coaches. The Head Coach must be present and focused on swimmers at all times, including actively giving group and individual feedback to swimmers.
- Ensures they are (or a designated Junior Coach is) on deck and present for all practices and swim meets. If the Head Coach is unable to attend a swim practice or meet, they must arrange for a Junior Coach to be on deck in their absence.
- Plans each practice set for each age group and directs the Junior Coaches to help facilitate each practice. Owns the responsibility of teaching all swimmers to learn each stroke correctly, which includes training each Junior Coach to ensure stroke technique feedback is consistent.
- Corresponds with parents as requested. This may include talking to them before or after practice and/ or responding to emails.
- Reviews applications and interviews each qualified Junior Coach candidate.
- Creates heat sheets, forms relay teams, and merges heat sheets with opposing teams. Obtains the discretion to seed swimmers based on ability/ time.
- Reviews all DQed swimmers and corresponds with the opposing teams about any discrepancies.
- Provides end-of-season evaluations for all Coaching staff under their leadership.
- Has a "fun first" mentality. Encourages competition during meets, but ultimately understands the goal is for swimmers to have fun and enjoy the sport.
- Required to sign a contract and will receive a 1099 tax statement at the end of each fiscal year for their employment.
Junior Coaches – 15-18 years old - Apply Now
- Love swimming and coaching younger swimmers. They are respectful to each other, other Coaches, and everyone involved with Barracudas.
- Required to attend all practices and meets.
- Required to participate on the Barracudas swim team.
- Required to sign a contract and will receive a 1099 tax statement at the end of each fiscal year for their employment.
Coach In Training (CIT) - 13-14 years old - Apply Now
- Assist Junior Coaches with their lane and may be asked to fill in as a lane coach.
- Are experienced swimmers who love swimming and are looking to become a Junior Coach in future seasons.
- Required to participate on the Barracudas swim team.
- Do not receive a 1099 tax statement, but will be acknowledged by the Board at the end of each swim season for their service.
